Vaishali Raval
is professor of psychology and affiliate of global and intercultural studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Raval’s program of research focuses on global mental health, with a particular focus on India, as well as some work in China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. Through this extensive program of research, she has mentored 15 graduate students and 70 undergraduate students in skillfully conducting international psychology research in her 13 years as a university faculty. She has directly mentored 23 international students (8 graduate, 15 undergraduate) from China, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Singapore, or South Korea. She has taught courses that incorporate international perspectives in research and clinical practice.

As the editor of International Psychology Bulletin (2014-16), Dr. Raval provided substantial mentoring to scholars from outside of USA through detailed feedback on their submissions, guiding them through the process of writing for publication. Dr. Raval has also impacted the professional development of psychologists around the world through grants and involvement in professional organizations. Through a recent collaborative grant with Christ University in India, Dr. Raval facilitated the professional development of psychology faculty through exchange visits, peer mentoring, and didactic workshops. Dr. Raval is involved with the Division 52 mentoring program and has served on mentoring panels for international graduate students and early career psychologists through the Asian Caucus of the Society for Research in Child Development. Dr. Raval’s thoughtful and compassionate mentoring extends beyond her students to a larger community of international psychologists, touching lives across the globe.
