Open Positions for 2023 Elections (2024 positions)

All elected positions officially will begin 1 January 2024. In the time between election results and the end of the year, elected persons will serve in a “designee” role to allow a smooth transition into their elected position, with full support from current officers.

President-Elect of Division 52
The President-Elect serves one year as President-Elect, one year as President, and one year as immediate Past President. The duties of the President-Elect are to work collaboratively with the “Presidential Trio” (past-current-elect) to provide continuity in the implementation of the Division 52 strategic plan. The President-Elect also serves as Co-Chair with the Past President of the Strategic Planning Committee and participates actively in Division committees on awards and nominations as well as the Board and the Presidential Advisory Committee.

Vice President of Engagement
The Vice President of Engagement serves a term of 3 years. The duties of the Vice President for Engagement are to facilitate and support Division activities and standing committees focused on membership recruitment and retention, engagement, outreach, liaison activities, and student and ECP activities. The VP of engagement will also participate on the Presidential Advisory Committee, representing the actions and concerns within the scope of their respective areas of purview.

D52 Treasurer
The Division 52 Treasurer serves for 3 years.  The duties of the Treasurer are to Chair and regularly convene the Finance Committee; to keep accounts that clearly categorize and track all Division income and expenses, to reconcile these accounts with reports from APA finance, and to disburse funds as within the approved budget; and to prepare the annual budget in consultation with the D52 President and the D52 Board of Directors.

Chair-Elect of the ECP Committee
The Chair-Elect of the Early Career Psychologist (ECP) Committee will join the ECP leadership team (Chair-Elect, Chair, Past-Chair). The ECP leadership team works to increase visibility of ECP representation in the Division and in APA, to develop resources for career development in an international context and to represent ECP concerns to the Division 52 Board of Directors. The term is 3 years as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past Chair. Nominees must have received their doctoral degree 2011 or later.

Student Representative to the Board / Chair-Elect, Student Committee
The Student Committee Chair-Elect will join the Student leadership team (Chair-Elect, Chair, Past Chair). In the Chair year, this individual serves as Student Representative to the Board of Directors. Student Committee positions are elected by students only (i.e., nominations are accepted from all Division members, affiliates and student members; however, the election will be by students only).
Nomination Guidelines and Procedures

Position Responsibilities

In addition to meeting responsibilities that are under the purview of their specific position, all elected officers are expected to attend the Mid-Winter meeting in January or February, the Executive Committee (EC) meetings in August at the APA Convention (or via teleconference) and regular teleconference calls.

Nomination Guidelines and Procedures

Each of the above positions will begin January 1, 2024. All nominees must hold APA Membership or Student Affiliate Membership (for the Student Representative to the Board of Directors) and be a member of Division 52. Individuals may be nominated or may self-nominate for a position.

All nominations must be submitted online.

The Nominations and Elections Committee will review nominations received and subsequently propose an election slate to the Division 52 Board of Directors. All nominees confirmed by the Board of Directors will be asked to provide a photo and a 250-word statement regarding why they seek the position, which will appear on the Division 52 website. They will also be asked to provide a statement for the official ballot sent by APA to Division members.
