Each term begins January 1, 2018. All nominees must hold APA membership and be a member of Division 52. Please read position descriptions below.
Candidates must receive at least 2 nominations from Division 52 members (including self-nominations).
Nominations are due by February 10, 2017, 5 pm EST
Candidates confirmed by the Nominations Committee for the election slates will be asked to
- confirm in writng that they accept the nomination and will serve if elected
- provide a photo and 250 word candidate statement to be posted on the Divison and APA websites and included in the election ballot sent to all Division members by APA.
Elected members are expected to attend the Division 52 Board of Director (BOD) meetings in August at the APA Convention, the Mid-winter meeting, and monthly Board of Director teleconferences. The two in-person Board of Director meetings will also be available via teleconference. All Board members are expected to provide timely reports and to read all agenda materials prior to the Board Meetings.
The President-elect is a Member of the Board of Directors, and performs the duties traditionally assigned to a vice-president. He/she precedes the President who presides at all meetings and is the chair of the Board of Directors, and stands in for the President when requested. The President-Elect appoints Convention Chairs for their Presidential-year convention, and appoints committee chairs for their Presidential year. The term of office of the President-elect is one year., followed by 1-year as President and 1-year as Past President.
The Student Representative and Student Committee Chair serves a 2 year term as chair of the Student Committee and as student member on the Board of Directors. The Student Representative / Chair will generally be a graduate student, but a particularly outstanding psychology undergraduate may be nominated for the position. The Student Committee encourages student division membership, and helps students become involved with the dynamic community of international psychologists.
The Treasurer serves a 3 year term, is on the Board of Directors, and is responsible for the Division’s finances. This includes monitoring and presenting financial reports, membership dues, proposing and monitoring the annual budget to the Division Board of Directors, directing the disbursement of Divison funds, and maintaining a close relation with the APA Divison Servies and Accounting Services who manage Division finances. The Treasurer chairs the Finance Committee.
