Curriculum Vitae

I am a clinician and a researcher of Cuban-Ecuadorian-American descent. I hold an academic appointment as Lecturer at the Yale School of Medicine and teach as adjunct faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. In addition, I work at Step by Step, where I specialize in the treatment of opiate addictions. I completed the first part of my training at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador. This experience has helped me appreciate differences between the field of psychology in the US and other countries.
I graduated from Lehigh University’s Counseling Psychology program and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine. At Yale, I received training in mental health services administration and leadership and specialized in the synergistic interaction among substance abuse, domestic violence, and HIV among women, particularly Latinas in the USA and Latin America.
I am a past member of the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists and has served as the Div52, Task Force 5 (Engaging International Partners) Liaison for Ecuador. In that capacity, I fostered collaborations among Latin American and US psychologists in efforts to eradicate violence against women. Currently, I am the Co-Chair of Marketing for the Div52 ECP Committee. Recently, I have established contact with the Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología to contribute to their social justice projects. I am interested in the cultural aspects of international collaborations and in psychology’s involvement in the promotion of social justice worldwide. I am grateful for the opportunity to run for this position.
