Professional title for a Practicing Psychologist: Clinical psychologist

Criteria, Regulations and Procedures to obtain a License:  A 5 year university degree (“Licenciatura” which is the professional title) in psychology, registry of professional degree from SUNEDU (The National Superintendence of Higher Education for Universities), proof of the authenticity of the signature on the professional degree, four (04) copies of the professional degree (one has to be certified by the General Secretary of the University with no more than 1 year of issuance, one has to be notarized by a Notary Public with no more than 6 months of issuance and two are simple copies), 03 passport photos with a white background (men in suit and tie and women in blouse and suit jacket, *no glasses*), 1 copy of the Bachelors Diploma (which is obtained after 5 years of study but before submittal of dissertation) certified by the General Secretary of the issuing University (no more than 1 year since issuance), 1 copy of transcripts certified by the General Secretary of the university (no more than 1 year since issuance), 1 legible and legalized copy of the person’s ID (Documento Nacional de Identificación-“DNI”) or a legalized copy of the passport (for foreigners)-both must not be expired, a current copy of criminal record, 02 forms that are downloaded from the School of Psychologist ́s website “Anexo 02 y 03” (one is a letter to the Dean and another is an Affidavit), proof of participation in a course given by the School of Psychologists and payment in cash of S/.387.00 (Peruvian Soles) in the National branch and of S/. 903.00 (Peruvian Soles) in cash in the regional branch (Lima & Callao). Both receipts as proof of payment must be kept and presented.

Reciprocity of Licenses: No. A foreigner with a degree from their country must go to a Peruvian University to have their degree validated and then go to SUNEDU. They then go to the School of Psychologists to go through the above mentioned process.

Temporary/Short-Term Licenses (which are often needed for psychologists doing humanitarian work in foreign countries): No.
