Merry Bullock’s work focuses on international engagement in research, teaching, application and policy. She has held a number of leadership positions in psychology and science organizations, including past president of Division 52. She is currently Secretary-General of the International Council of Psychologists and Global Network of Psychologists for Human Rights Steering Committee Co-Chair. Until 2017 she directed the Office of International Affairs at the American Psychological Association, in Washington DC, which oversees APA’s involvement in international academic, research, and policy activities. Dr. Bullock co-edited the second edition of the Handbook of International Psychology and has edited journal special issues on internationalization in psychological science and psychology and human rights. Her published scholarly output includes work on early cognitive development, scientific thinking, developmental aspects of motivation and emotion, human rights, ethics, and internationalization. She was an officer in the International Union of Psychological Science for over a decade, and continues to work on organizational development and capacity building. Dr. Bullock has lived and worked in university and policy settings in Canada, Estonia, Germany, and the United States.  She has received a number of awards and citations, including the 2018 Raymond D. Fowler Award for Outstanding Contributions to APA, Member, the 2017 SIP Award for Advancement of Psychology in the Americas, and the 2015 ICP Fukuhara Award for Outstanding International Contributions. She is a Fellow of Divisions 1, 3 and 52.
