Criteria, Regulations and Procedures to obtain a License:

Because we don’t have a psychology university degree in the Faroe Islands, we follow the Danish regulations and procedures. To obtain a license, a 5-year university master’s degree is needed, and then minimum 2 years of clinical practice with supervision (website: https://ast.dk/naevn/psykolognaevnet/authorisation-as-a-psychologist). People are, however, allowed to practice without a license, but an authorization is preferred in most jobs. So most of the Faroese psychologists sooner or later obtain an authorization. If you have obtained a degree and license from a country other than Denmark, you would have to get the license assessed by the Danish authorities.
