Khushboo Patel is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Experimental Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Louisville. She is originally from India where she pursued her B.A. in Psychology and entered the Ph.D. program after completing an M.A. in Psychology from Boston University. Her research looks at the development of children attitudes about STEM learning, with a focus on how their beliefs vary across gender, race, and cultural context. Khushboo’s work speaks to fundamental questions about how children think about intersectionality and how this affects their STEM learning. Khushboo’s work also looks at cross-cultural differences in adolescent’s STEM learning as she believes it is important to produce evidence from non-Western countries to address the global gender gap in STEM. She deeply cares about disseminating her knowledge about the hidden curriculum to other students like her. To this end, she serves a mentor for the NextGen Psych Scholars Program – a mentorship program for underrepresented students interested
